Care & maintenance instructions for laminate
CARE & MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS FOR LAMINATE
Laminate floors are ‘easy-care’, wear-resistant floors with a long lifespan and a hygienic hard surface. The floor can be maintained in very little time and with a minimum of effort to keep it in good condition and looking good. The ideal room humidity for this type of floor is 40-60% at 20°C.
1. Avoid dirt.
• Dust and dirt, such as sand and grit, will not only make the floor dirty, but can also permenantly mark it. They work like ‘sandpaper’ and can cause premature wear and tear and scratches. If the floor is wet, dirt will stick to it and it will be much more difficult to remove the dirt. To help preventing this, place a suitable doormat at your entrance(s) that is large enough to absorb dirt and/or moisture.
• Scratches from chairs and tables can also be avoided by placing felt guards under their “feet”.
2. Regular maintenance.
• Due to the hard, sealed surface on laminate flooring it is not necessary to use water to clean the floor. You can remove surface dirt from the floor with a vacuum cleaner and a dry duster or for stubborn stains or marks please use the Berry Magic cleaner from our accessories range.
• The New HydroPlus floors from Berry can be wet cleaned with a well wrung-out mop or floor cloth and a synthetic detergent. It does not take too much water to get the floor looking like new again, and once the floor is clean, wipe the floor dry.
• The floor must not be waxed, varnished or polished. Do not use steel wool or abrasive cleaning methods on the floor, Berry Floor recommends the use of it’s Magic Cleaner and other accessories to keep the floor as new.
3. First cleaning after installation.
After installation, the floor will be very dirty. Therefore, first remove all larger pieces of dirt with a soft bristle brush or a vacuum cleaner. The floor can then be cleaned with a well wrung out, slightly damp floor cloth or mop one or more times.
4. Stubborn stains.
Marks, streaks or prints from shoe soles, felt-tip pens, oil, grease, nail polish, paint, etc. can be removed from laminate flooring as follows.
After removing the stains, always rub with a slightly damp cloth or mop to remove all traces of the products and/or detergents.
